Mindful parenting

Group training for parents and carers 

Do you feel stressed, find yourself reacting impulsively in stressful parenting situations and wish to connect better to your children? Do you wish to pause, take better care of yourself as a parent and reflect on your parenting patterns? Or you simply want to prevent stress building up?

 

Mindful parenting is an 8-week group training (2.5 h each week) to better care for yourself as a parent and helps to develop insight into your own needs and your child’s needs. It encompasses the elements of the evidence-based mindfulness course (MBSR) for adults and integrates relevant topics on parenting including parental stress, communication, limit setting, reflection on own childhood upbringing, and more.

 

The training may help in the following ways:

  • Respond less reactively to parenting stress

  • Take better care of yourself

  • Develop more compassion for yourself and child

  • Tolerate strong emotions in yourself and child better

  • Recognise patterns from your own upbringing

  • Fully experience both the joys and challenges of parenting

  • Resolve conflict better with your child

  • Develop general mindfulness skills

  • Reduced parental stress and emotional problems

Mindful parenting’ is adapted from the European course developed by Boegels & Restifo who have been delivering those trainings with much success for many years in the Netherlands. For evidence of the benefits of this training please refer to section 'mindful parenting' under 'resources'.

When? Courses run throughout the year. Weekly sessions of 2.5 hrs for 8 weeks. Please register your interest.
